EMBODIED YOGA RETREATS: A JOURNEY THROUGH OUR PAST GATHERINGS

Embodied yoga retreats are more than just getaways. They are transformative experiences that invite you to fully inhabit your body, deepen your connection to self and move in harmony with the wisdom of the land.

Through the years, our embodied yoga retreats have taken us across the world. From the ancient sites of Greece and the mountains of Spain to the spring-surrounded Lochs of Scotland and the lush sanctuaries of Bali. Each retreat is unique, shaped by the energies of the place, the stories of the land and the souls who gather to practice, explore and remember. They are always a collaboration and we trust in what blossoms between us in each and every chapter.

At Samāveśa School of Tantra, Somatics and Embodied Yoga we follow The Circle Way. There are no hierarchies, no gurus, no rigid dogma. We bring the teachings off the page and into the body, co-creating a practice in alignment with the moment. It’s a space of shared leadership, deep listening and authentic connection. With each other and with all of life.

This essential ethos flows through all our previous retreat offerings; we trust in where the Samāveśa community is called, who longs to offer through Her and what emerges when we gather together.

Samāveśa embodied yoga retreats are offerings in service of awakening. They are invitations to step into embodied freedom, to embrace the joy of being fully alive and to welcome you into the arms of belonging. Each retreat has been a chapter in a greater unfolding story—one that continues to evolve and be written through the presence of those who feel called to join.

And they are always a co-creation; with one another, with the land and with the Goddess.

As we reflect on the journeys we’ve taken together, we also look forward to what is yet to come. Explore the past retreats that have shaped our community and stay connected for future gatherings that will continue to inspire, nourish and transform.

SRI

300 Hour Tantra, Somatics and Embodied Yoga Training Retreat,
Scotland, 2024

A group of women gathered together outside a grand house. They are standing on the stairs, hugging, smiling and laughing.

“It’s all Sri”: The absolute delight of being together in community. Scotland, 2025.

Something extraordinary happened here on the edge of Loch Holy in the Scottish Highlands. This was the first incarnation of SRI, where the 300 Hour Tantra, Somatics and Embodied Yoga Training students co-facilitated their own graduation retreat. The location, venue, menu and schedule were all co-created by the students.

At the heart of SRI was the opportunity for the 300 Hour students to move as one body, create as one body and to embody the circular non-hierarchical approach, which is the founding principle of Samāveśa School of Tantra, Somatics and Embodied Yoga. Each of the 9 students who gathered for SRI chose which divine gift they wanted to offer back to one another from their time spent together throughout the duration of the 10-month long Advanced Facilitator training. The whole experience was deeply collaborative, in service of Shakti and unfolding from and through the group mind.

An endless becoming. Scotland, 2025.

When there is as much closeness and shared embodied experience as there was within the group, we meet each other both in the corporeal realm but also somewhere more profound. We find each other in the layers of embodied awareness which we have cultivated through one another’s offerings but also in the wild terrains of the imaginal, where we cohabit a shared expanse that is held by the magic of psyche.

Water dripped into bone, we expanded the central channel and danced with Goddess Lalita. The intimacy within the group was beyond words. There was sacred, timeless silence and giddy, wild laughter. It was the closing of one chapter, but also the opening of another. And an immense privilege to witness the exceptional facilitators who have emerged from the shared container of the 300 Hour Advanced Embodied Yoga Training, An Endless Becoming.

SOMA

Tantra, Somatics and Embodied Yoga Retreat, Spain 2024

In September 2024, we gathered at the edge of the Sierra Nevada and became the mountain. SOMA was often silent, always filled with sensuosity and full of plenty of space for silliness and song. This was a profound dive into somatics and embodied yoga, co-created by Samāveśa faculty members, Alexandra MacDondald, Collette Davis and Sophie Hutchinson. The mountain himself held us and keeps a piece of us all with him even now. It was a gift to be able to endlessly co-create with his energy.

We found our inner compass as we turned towards the rising sun every morning with silence, reverence and prayer. The sun shone first over the fig orchards that filled the eastern edge of our mountain farm home as we deepened into somatics and practiced Embodied Flow.

Then, as we gathered together in workshops to offer our experiences from deep embodied terrains, the sun spread through the expanse of the day. We found intimate corners within which to meet new layers of embodiment with Andrea Olsen's Body & Earth. We floated in our lungs, we built cathedrals from the architecture of our bones and we unpeeled every subtle layer of the membranes which separate being from body. And we sat in circle in the evenings, telling stories and listening to Georgie sing.

We touched intimately into one another and into the land. We witnessed one another unveil the somatic unconscious through practices of Authentic Movement, underneath the almond trees and beyond the olive groves. And we laughed fully, freely and wildly.

And we will certainly be returning, SOMA was one of the softest Samāveśa holding fields we’ve been called to yet.

The Call of Brigid

Deep Rest, Gentle Embodiment and Nourishment, Ireland 2024

We gather together on retreat when members of the community call us to their lands. It was such a gift when Samāveśa Graduate and SOMA Facilitator Sophie Hutchinson called us to the lands of Eire (Ireland) to honour St Brigid’s Day and the first tentative sprouts of Imbolc. We sat round the fire and began in stillness, like the fragile winter bulbs still resting in the earth. There was no intention, no schedule. We simply let ourselves feel and follow what was calling to us.

As the days progressed, the land began to speak through us. St Brigid crosses made from the reeds surrounding our circular temple home began to proliferate through the space. We walked the lands looking for myth. Georgie Buchanan sang Queen Maeve's song as it emerged from the hills, so we could all come to know her vibration. And the selkies began to call to us all from the shore.

This was a gathering of deep embodiment of the land, so the stories began to emerge somatically, through the synchronicities and symbols which sang to our souls. Sophie invited us all on a pilgrimage to the heart of her homeland, and there, we fell in love with the myths, poems and songs of Eire through the deep holding of her hills.

COMING HOME TO YOURSELF

Embodied Yoga Immersion, Portugal 2023

Stairway to Heaven. Portugal, 2023.

This was a playful gathering for students of our signature 250 Hour Embodied Yoga Training: The Alchemy of Embodied Philosophy from 2020 to 2023. It felt like a school reunion. There was so much intimacy already within each of the groups and this retreat was an opportunity for that sweetness to melt between the three cohorts.

We came together to celebrate our shared journeys and achievements, creating a festival-like atmosphere where facilitation flowed naturally between cohorts, with collaborative sessions and headline moments led by members of the community.

Collette welcomed us each day with silence, mantra and an Embodied Flow practice. After that, the facilitation slots were opened to the graduates so that they could offer from their own hearts back to the group. We danced between embodied tarot with Molly, cacao with Juliana and yoga nidra with Libby. Everyone brought their unique gifts and we got to receive from one another; Kylie immersed us in her devotion to Shibari, Sophie invited us all to slip through the magic of her Hagstone and we were introduced to Qoya, an embodied movement practice.

The hills of Vale de Moses offered us so much. There was poetry, silence, walks in the mountains, wild swimming in the rivers, lounging by the pool, bathing in the forest, reading in hammocks, afternoon naps, meaningful moments, belly laughs and nourishing meals cooked from the extraordinary land. It was an exquisite gift to watch the stars pop out one by one from the clear night sky until we were enveloped under a canopy of cosmos, pulsating with the aliveness that awaited us in morning practice.

More than anything, this was a time to be in the sweet embrace of nourishing practices and heartfelt community. A chance to come home to ourselves and our practice. To commune and to finally meet the souls we had all fallen in love with through the expanses of our time spent in the online embodied yoga trainings together.

In Service of Shakti

The Home of Depth and Devotion

Samāveśa is a living, pulsing entity. She is alive and she guides us in everything we offer.

We are in service to Her and the community.

The community is circular because we are all in service of the Goddess, which means we are in service of each other and the wider collective. This, in and of itself, is quite a radical View that only sādhakās, upāsakas and devotees can fully understand, and that points to what we stand for. Depth and devotion.
