Embodied Flow™: About the philosophy, art and method of the global movement

Embodied Flow™ is the school of yoga that birthed Samāveśa. It combines the somatics of Body Mind Centering ® and the philosophy of non-dual Shaiva Tantra to create a living, breathing expression of ancient yogic wisdom and tradition.

As devotees, we honour our teachers and our teachers’ teachers. Embodied Flow™ was created by Tara Judelle as a vessel for embodying the teachings of classical tantra with contemporary somatics. She was guided by her teacher, the great Sally Kempton, and by the extraordinary work of Bonnie Banbridge Cohen. Embodied Flow™ is a testament to the wisdom of the sages past, present and emerging. We humbly offer ourselves at her feet, as do the hundreds of liberation seekers who pass through her doors and become Embodied Flow™ facilitators.

Embodied Flow™ is a global community of practitioners who make the teachings of non-dual Shaiva Tantra accessible, transmissible and alive. The Samāveśa School of Tantra, Somatics and Embodied Yoga is one of these communities. We offer the teachings in a way that is emergent and aligned with the gathering of souls who join us for each incarnation of our facilitator trainings. Know that in joining us, you are joining an ever-burgeoning network of teachers who embody the teachings and offer them, in service, to their communities.

Embodied Flow: dynamic expression of the felt sense.

A definition from the Embodied Flow™ School

‘Embodied Flow™ is a continuum of movement and expression that draws from the discoveries of hatha, tantrik and somatic movement systems to experience yoga as a living art form. Both philosophy and method, Embodied Flow™ is a system of training and practice that provides pathways to a deep sense of strength, ease and connectivity in the human form. Practitioners are empowered to be their own greatest teacher as they expand, integrate and facilitate awareness in their entire body-mind, with the ultimate goal of experiencing greatest capacity for connection, both within and beyond the individual self

In some traditions, āsana is thought to be the primary catalyst of change fo an individual, the teacher the secondary catalyst, and the student does not have to be ‘present’. In Embodied Flow™, the student is valued as an equal explorer, whose innate wisdom and authentic self can emerge through the container of āsana and the facilitation of the teacher. The student’s presence is an integral part of the exchange. In this way, the student is the primary driver of their own journey, acting as both the canvas and the painter in the movement towards their own embodiment.

With this in mind, an Embodied Flow™ facilitator is a resource: the provider of ideas, information and strategy towards the raising of consciousness. She or he elicits curiosity, and encourages environmental, interpersonal, intrapersonal and self-revelations. Embodied Flow™ facilitators look for potential routes and pathways into their students’ learning potential, and take into account what is easily visible and what is in shadow.’

Embodied Flow™: benefits of the system and the practice

At The Samāveśa School of Tantra, Somatics and Embodied Yoga we alchemise these five key pillars of the Embodied Flow™ system as essential aspects of self study, self inquiry and self acceptance. And to support the awakening process which is at the heart of non-dual Shaiva Tantra. This process is held in a deeply nurturing community and is in service of embodied liberation for all beings.

Is Embodied Flow™ the right philosophy to inform my practice and my life?

Embodied Flow™ is available to all, but there are felt similarities in the humans who choose to devote themselves to its teachings.

You are a mover
Your body, your senses and your cells want to birth and breathe, power and spark. To pulsate with the rhythm of Shakti. To brighten towards the glimmer of Pratibhā. You are curious and passionate about your love of movement. Maybe you had a desire to dance as a child, maybe you feel restricted by your asana practice or maybe you long to be more intimate with life as it courses through your own body.

You have a desire to combine influences and disciplines

You are likely to have immersed yourself in a multitude of inspirations like; yogic philosophy, somatic therapy, dance, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Reiki, Body Mind Centering, Authentic Movement, Jungian psychology, astrology, mythology, Continuum, Naturopathy and Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy.

You want to be a spaceholder and a transmitter
You want to walk alongside others without judgment or the need to fix and solve. You speak in silent transmissions with insight and intuition. You have empathy and a six sense.

You are compassionate for change

You want to be in service to make the world a better place.

You have a love of language
You have a desire to express authentically and command words with intention, heart and poetry.

You are open to mainstream and alternative sciences
You want to embrace, understand and cite an abundance of scientific models and cultures. You see how the intelligence of science is essentially a longing to know Goddess in more intimate and intricate ways.

You take responsibility
For your words, your actions and everything you bring into the world.
